Understood as the ability to read, write, and use arithmetic , traditionally, LITERACY in more modern expansions of language, ... its meaning includes the ability to use language, numbers, images, computers, and other basic means to understand, communicate, gain useful knowledge and use dominant symbol systems of a particular culture.  


Research has found that in teaching LITERACY, there is an empirical link between school leadership and student achievement.
